Anthony Tattan launches Outsource Sales Director - Business Plus Article

Tattan, formerly chief commercial officer in IP Telecom, said Outsourced Sales Director brings much needed sales directorship skills and expertise to companies that do not require or cannot afford full-time sales directors.

Tattan said Outsource Sales Director is aiming to exploit a gap in the market for experienced sales leaders who can slot into senior management teams and advise on company strategies including mergers and acquisitions, sales and marketing team development, and revenue growth strategies.

“Owners, investors and boards of directors need someone who can speak their language and for example, can spend a day each week in their businesses helping grow the revenue, and also shape and develop their overall strategy for sales and marketing," he said.

Tattan previously spent 10 years at IP Telecom, where he was responsible for the growth of both the direct and reseller channels in Ireland, and for South Africa since 2018, building experience of these markets and a network of contacts and partners in both regions.

The entrepreneur also sees current opportunities for mergers and acquisitions in the tech space, as well scope to service companies that are in getting themselves ‘exit ready’ mode.

“We’re seeing lots of M&A activity in the technology and telecoms space, with many opportunities taken while others are missing out through lack of preparation and positioning,” he said.

“Unclear and undocumented strategies for growth, acquisition, or exit have left many businesses behind due to poor alignment. The absence of commercial expertise results in missed opportunities.”

Tattan brings with him experience of the outsource model, having run a demand generation company from 2010 to 2015.

Another function of Outsource Sales Director is to enable company directors the space to focus on future plans by taking a step back to define the goals for the business for the next 18 to 24 months.

“In some cases that means ‘grooming’ the business for acquisition and possibly including an exit strategy for the management team. Business owners are very comfortable with the outsource model and we want to see them outsourcing key parts of their sales and marketing management function or having a part-time sales director advising them on the direction of their business,”  said Tattan.
