Implementation of Digital Technology in the Construction Sector

On Thursday 10 June, Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is hosting an online networking event and discussion session, as part of a series of four workshop events taking place this year to support to support Irish, Northern Irish and Scottish businesses in the construction sector on their complete digital journey.

Co-sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland and Integrated Facilities Solution, this event will bring together Causeway members, partners and industry guests, from both sides of the Irish Sea, and will focus on how to successfully implement digital technology, with guest speakers sharing their experiences and insights of the challenges they encountered on their digital journey, and how they successfully implemented and work with digital technology today.

This event will be co-hosted by Nick Turberville, Head of Trade – GB Construction, Invest Northern Ireland and Linda Scott, Causeway Board Member and Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Industry Engagement at Scotland’s digital skills academy, CodeClan. As well as breakout discussion sessions for attendees, this event will also have guest talks from George Harold, Integrated Facilities Solutions; Cathal McMullan, Managing Director of Kane Group; and Gary Kelly of Leica Geosystems.

Explaining more, sponsor and guest speaker, Causeway Member and MD of Integrated Facilities Solutions George Harold said:

“IFS is an Irish business that has been at the forefront of the digital transformation and management of building information for over 20 years, and we work with many clients and projects in Ireland, Scotland, UK, EU and US. This series of events has been fantastic in allowing construction leaders, from both sides of the Irish Sea, to come together to share their experiences and make valuable new connections.

“We are looking forward to taking part in this event to share our journey of digital transformation and how IFS works with technology to enhance the construction and FM sectors from design, right through to construction, handover and operations.”

Adding to this, sponsor of the series from Invest Northern Ireland, Nick Turberville, Head of Trade – GB Construction said:

“Invest Northern Ireland is proud to be sponsoring this series of events, and to be working in collaboration with Causeway and its members, to support connecting construction sector leaders, on both sides of the Irish Sea, with sharing experiences and helpful insights of digital transformation.

“Through the spotlight talks and breakout sessions, this series of events is enabling construction businesses and professionals from Northern Ireland to showcase their businesses, and to connect with other sector leaders from across Ireland and Scotland, in sharing challenges and successes, and exploring and sharing solutions to enhance digitisation across the construction sector.”

In addition to Invest Northern Ireland; Integrated Facilities Solutions and CodeClan, this event has had key contributors from across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, including Enterprise Ireland; Digital Construction Skills; and Smith Scott Mullan Associates.

The previous events in this series are available to watch back online, and the final event will take place in September looking at Collaborating in Digital Construction Solutions.
