Causeway Launches New Professional Partners’ Programme

Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is pleased to have launched a new Professional Partners’ Programme aimed at connecting experienced business leaders with young professionals in our network.

Since it was first established in 2016, Causeway has grown to become a thriving networking organisation for professionals from across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, who share an ambition to build connections and relationships on both sides of the Irish Sea.

Representing a diversity of sectors, Causeway provides a friendly networking space - both online and offline - for professionals to share and collaborate on ideas, with an ultimate aim of boosting trade and shared opportunities on both sides of the Irish Sea.

More recently, the organisation has expanded its remit to offer support and networking opportunities for graduates and young professionals starting out on their careers, with its ‘£30 for the under-30s’ Young Professional Membership rate and held a successful career development event in September 2020, which brought together senior business leaders with ambitious young professionals in the early stages of their careers.

To support connecting new young professional members with more experienced businhttps://causewayexchange.net/userfiles/documents/PPP/Professional%20Partners%20Programme%20Sept2020.pdfess leaders in the Causeway network, the new Professional Partners’ Programme aims to create a unique opportunity for reverse mentoring and professional support for both members involved.

Explaining more about the Professional Partners’ Programme, Causeway Director Brigid Whoriskey said:

“Causeway is passionate about supporting young professionals with their careers. But more than that, we are excited about hearing the voice of this generation of change-makers and learning from them as well as supporting them.

“The Causeway Professional Partners’ Programme aims to introduce more experienced Causeway Members to our Young Professional Members to enable them to connect, chat and get some support or advice when needed.”

Speaking at the recent Young Professional event held in September about the benefits joining Causeway can bring for a young professional in connecting with the right people, Causeway Young Professional Member and University of Glasgow postgraduate student Ailis Watt said:

“I joined Causeway this year as a recent graduate who wanted to build my professional network and since I’ve taken part in so many interesting Causeway online events. With the current restrictions since Covid-19, there has never been a better time to join a networking group like this to get motivated and inspired as it allows you to join easily online and network with people from across Ireland and Scotland. I have already connected with several people well-established in industries I have ambitions to work in, so it is reassuring to know I have people to turn to for advice, or potentially even opportunities.”

Unlike other mentoring programmes, the Professional Partners’ Programme offers two-way mutual benefits to both young professionals and experienced leaders, including:

An opportunity for young professionals to get support in their career journeys from more experienced leaders who will share their skills, experience, expertise, networks and provide a trusted listening ear.  Basically, you will get the opportunity to connect with someone with lots of experience to have an informal chat with – about your career aspirations or anything you think might help you with your career at this point in time.

An opportunity for experienced leaders to learn from younger talent and get a different perspective than that of their usual peer group.  Our Young Professional Members can help experienced leaders to think in a different way, to become more digitally savvy and to better connect with Millennials and Gen Z.
