In recognition of shared ambitions to facilitate opportunities for members to grow connections to support business growth in Cork and over the Irish Sea, Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange and the Cork Chamber are pleased to announce a new partnership between the two business membership organisations.
Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is a not-for-profit business networking organisation that has members across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Established in Edinburgh in 2016 by a group of Irish diaspora professionals living and working in Scotland, today, Causeway’s membership has grown, and the organisation represents professionals, from a variety of sectors and career stages, who share an ambition to build connections and collaborations, to boost trade and business relationships on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Causeway is supported by both the Irish and Scottish governments, and also has existing partnerships with the British and Irish Trading Alliance, Dublin Chamber; Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce; Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland, and Scottish Development International.
As part of this new partnership, both membership organisations will work together in supporting each other’s activities for attracting investment and local business development, and will collaborate on promoting local and international activities such as bilateral trade missions, cross-networking workshops and annual business awards. These events will facilitate networking and open up opportunities for Irish-Scottish business relationships to be developed, with a view to enhancing trade on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Speaking about the partnership, Katherine Fitzpatrick, Director of International Relations at Cork Chamber, said:
“The Chamber is committed to developing relationships with diaspora, trade and business networks across the globe, that will give our members access to potential new clients and contacts in new markets.
"Following the publication earlier this year, of the Ireland-Scotland Joint Bilateral Review document, both governments have committed to enhancing our relationship in the areas of community and diaspora; culture; academic and research links, as well as the development of an Ireland-Scotland Trade Taskforce. By creating deeper links with organisations such as Causeway, Cork Chamber hopes to play our part in strengthening the connections between the business communities in both regions.”
Explaining more about the partnership with Cork Chamber, Causeway Chair David Greenlees said:
