Disruption to shipping lines caused by Red Sea issues!

Trinity Logistics would like to take this opportunity to provide some details on disruption being caused by the Red Sea issues. Due to attacks on numerous shipping vessels in the Red Sea, shipping lines have decided to pause using the Suez Canal and divert all ships around The Cape Of Good Hope.

This adds around 3500 additional nautical miles to the voyage from the Far East, increasing fuel usage and days at sea by 10 – 15 days. The impact of this is more in depth. Shipping lines will miss berthing slots and pilots at ports, incurring huge additional charges, they will then have to wait in queues to be berthed when they arrive.

Further impact will be on equipment as it will take 15 – 30 extra days for the ship to arrive back at its original starting point sailing around the Cape Of Good Hope. There will soon be a shortage of equipment at all ports.

Please see below diagram which illustrates the diversion and extra distance. This is just from The Arabian Gulf.

Chinese New Year is 10th Feb which is compounding the issues of a spike in bookings.

We will be tracking our customers cargo daily and keeping them updated on all shipping news and developments.

If you have any questions or need any assistance with any upcoming shipments, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss.
