Jacqueline O'Donovan

Managing Director at O'Donovan Waste Disposal

As MD of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, Jacqueline is one of the waste, logistics, and construction sectors’ most passionate pioneers of employee training, industry best practice and the safety of all road users. Under her steer, the family-run waste management business has gone from strength to strength and has 185 employees and a turnover of over £21m. Whilst the company has received numerous accolades for its work, Jacqueline herself is recognised as a leading force in the industry, including being named PwC Private Business Woman of the Year and Growing Business Awards Entrepreneur of the Year. Jacqueline is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (CIHT), the Institute of Couriers (IoC), as well as the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM). She is also a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. One of Jacqueline’s most outstanding attributes is her drive to improving safety; not only the company’s own record but also those of operators across the wider construction industry. Her real differentiator is her focus on staff training and investment in innovation and equipment to enhance safer working practices. Jacqueline has been the driving force behind O’Donovan becoming one of the first companies CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety) champions, O’Donovan has also achieved the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Gold accreditation for the ninth consecutive year, and Jacqueline’s achievements have earned her a place on the FORS Board of Governance. She has completed a term on the board of SECBE having become the first female director to join the regional centre for Constructing Excellence – a trusted and critical partner to UK Government. In a philanthropic capacity, she has been given the Freedom of the City of London and was also honoured by Irish President Michael D. Higgins with a Presidential Distinguished Service Award for her continuous support of the Irish community in the UK.
