#Bringyourteenager to work!

In association with Construction Helpline and Asset Management, BITA is launching this exciting new program to support our members and other business to get involved with bringing their teenager to work.

The past two years have been difficult for us all, but especially for younger people. Many have missed out on work experience, which is an important part of their development and preparation for adulthood.

Also, not attending school has also meant that their socialisation skills have plummeted while their anxiety and mental health is reaching crisis point.

#Bringyourteenager to work, offers people the opportunity to get behind a great initiative to tackle these issues, all while providing benefit to your business. As we all know, younger people have a different way of looking at things, and learning is not unidirectional.

There is no set agenda, we just ask that you consider any young people you know – your children, nieces and nephews, family friends – and think about what they could learn from coming into work with you for a day.

We suggest over the Easter Holidays, however any time they are off from school would work.

Show them around the company, introduce them to your colleagues, and show them what you get up to in the day to day. Ideally their interest will be sparked, and you’ll be helping the next generation get their careers planned out!

We ask that participants complete our online form, which also has links to a sample risk assessment that you can use, and then it’s up to you!

You can see more about this programme online: https://www.constructionhelpline.com/bring-your-teenager.html. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with laura@bita.ie.
